@silkester @h absurd take that Biden doesn't have enough power when US made weapons are what's being used in Gaza. Absurd take to conclude that a power imbalance so extreme one side is able to literally starve the other has the same threat level for conducting genocide. Absurd take to compare the threat level of a hypothetical genocide 𝘁𝗼 𝗮 𝗴𝗲𝗻𝗼𝗰𝗶𝗱𝗲 𝗶𝗻 𝗽𝗿𝗼𝗴𝗿𝗲𝘀𝘀. Not in an election year. Take a look into history: See Nixon and the Vietnam peace talks, see Reagan and Iran Contra @silkester @vex @h Well, anyway, a lot of people were slaughtered in cold blood by remote control. Maybe we can agree on that much. Perhaps with some tweaking of language. Many humans had their lives removed from their bodies by devices operated by technicians. Is that enough passive voice to pass muster as hasbara? What I like most about Terry Pratchett is his political analysis: The upper classes are too stupid, corrupt and competitive to rule. Our only hope is a benevelant autocrat. Unfortunately, benevelant autocrats only exist in the sort of places where are also found dragons, wizards, talking dogs, and honest cops. |

For one Biden is not as powerful as you think, and denying bombs to Israel comes with its own risk of genocide on the other side of the conflict.
Aside from that, my comment was not in any shape or form related to and likely future. It is completely irrelevant what Biden would or wouldn't do.
It was a piece of fiction. A cynical satirical comment on the SCOTUS decision.
