@woodpunk beautiful!

to add to the list of companies with good repair experiences: i once handed a fountain-pen curious friend my TWSBI diamond 540 – a workhorse pen built by an OEM-turned-maker-of-their-own-line-of-pens from taiwan, sold for a really strong price given how much pen you get – to try out. a known weak point in earlier models was the plastic cap breaking right next to the end of a metal ferrule clamping over the threaded part. the constant twisting and untwisting, weakening of material, yadda yadda.

long story short, my friend thought the cap was pull to remove, not unscrew to remove, and tore it right off the threads.

after testing (and some very intense apologising on her part, and puzzlement on mine), we both took that as our cue to buy the overhauled model, the diamond 580 (they keep iterating over models, fixing weak points!). on a whim, i emailed their support, reporting the entire affair, and they sent over a replacement cap for free. despite already having a new pen in hand!
