@achadwick @timkrief @fdroidorg So it's exactly the same app with no changes except for the branding? If so, then I'll just switch over from #K9Mail to #Thunderbird rather sooner than later to be done with it. @laubblaeser @timkrief @fdroidorg Seeing how Mozilla's priorities have changed over the past couple of years, I live in vain hope that a Fennec-like situation arises. An independent defanged build some time between when they drop the K-9 branding and when they start shovelling crapware that nobody wants into the product. Perhaps it could be called FIDO https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/K9_(Doctor_Who)#Conceptual_history (Shame that maintaining such a build is bloody hard work..) |
@laubblaeser @timkrief @fdroidorg they last committed to keeping the K-9 branding in August, on a now sundowned blog: https://k9mail.app/2024/08/28/What's-Happening-With-the-K-9-Blog.html
"And for all of you who are fans of our little robot dog, the K-9 app and all its associated branding will be maintained alongside Thunderbird for the foreseeable future"
But the very next month, on the new blog: https://blog.thunderbird.net/2024/09/thunderbird-for-android-k-9-mail-july-aug-2024-progress-report/#comment-5514
"And yes, K-9 will eventually be phased out"
