Discontinued Plopper

@stavvers
can't get abe simpson's voice out of my head reading this.

Another Angry Woman

@floppyplopper imagine acclaimed actor and certified national treasure Helen Mirren sidling up to you, pointing excitedly at the blue dot on google maps and then tearing up, "it's such a shame Kurt Cobain never lived to see this"

@stavvers Dame Helen walking down the street, phone in hand, accosting strangers: "Oh, just look at my little blue dot! Isn't it just the loveliest? I so do wish Kurt Cobain were here to see it!"

@stavvers this is delightfully unhinged. I aspire to this level of random at her age.

@stavvers The wild part is she does, tho. She mentions Kurt Cobain and the technologies he never used ALL THE TIME

@stavvers Helen Mirren's "Carthago delenda est".

@stavvers "always say" is a UK thing - it just means something like "of the opinion", or "I somethimes think".

Another Angry Woman

This just in: Helen Mirren really does always say that she's sad Kurt Cobain missed out on various technology.

The following year she told Cosmopolitan, "I was thinking about Kurt Cobain the other say and he died without knowing the internet, and I'm totally blown away by that.

And, in 2016, she told the Daily Mail, "If I'd died at age 27, the age that Kurt Cobain died in 1994, I'd have never even known there was an internet! Incredible things are happening all the time and I can't wait to see what comes next."
The actor has frequently referenced Cobain in the past when discussing the interface of technology and ageing. In 2014, she told Oprah Winfrey, "Look at Kurt Cobain - He hardly even saw a computer! The digital stuff that's going on is so excited. I'm just so curious about what happens next."
