I'm debating dropping Google ReCaptcha in favor of Cloudflare Turnstile.

I'm approaching my monthly limit for Google ReCaptcha, and I don't want to have to pay, but I also don't want an abysmal user experience like hCaptcha.

Any suggestions?

It really depends on the scale you are operating at. How useful is captcha to you, and what are you using it for?

Just to defend login access? Or to defend every page against the scraping monsters that are currently out there? Are you protecting a storefront?

@shaknais Just login/register pages, and some auth pages

I might recommend procaptcha. And they've got a bit of an estimator tool before you signup, so you can compare pricing. It's not exact, but not terrible.

A lot fewer clients tend to have to solve puzzles. It copes, unless DDoS starts heading your way, then it falls over.

@dansup Choosing like jumping from the rain into the gutter. Unfortunately both are equally junky and very bad options in the many, many ways.

@dansup captchas might keep regular users out, or make them think twice, but those that want to test credentials or whatever, have ways around captcha. ddos+rate limiting might be more effective?

@dansup My experience with Turnstile is really good. Very user-friendly, free, and just works.

For reference: we send about 300k requests per month through it, with a solve rate of just about 93%. Never had a single complaint.
