I know you're probably joking but ..

A: YES if you are draping instead of using commercial patterns
B: YES - IF you are close to commercial pattern sizes

b: NO - If you ware shaped like a normal human ...

The dirty clothes sewing secret is that 'Commercial' and 'Standardised' patterns from the big manufactured fit *No Real Person*.

They are designed for the Platonic Ideal of 'average' (normally female)

@Faintdreams Thank you!!

I've been avoiding patterns exactly for this. For now, I was planning on buying whatever I like and make it fit me better.

Adapting patterns is something every sewer ends up doing, but can sometimes feel like fighting someone else Math instead of starting from a clean base

Sewing Patterns : 200 Questions Answered by Sophie English is an excellent book. Lots of pictures / explanations on how to alter commercial patterns
