But even though you don't have to, both Wordpress and, Meta and actually have joined the same foundation to partner together to promote ActivityPub. I get it, from Wordpress' perspective the benefits of having Meta involved outweigh the downsides, and presumably you've already factored in the costs of partnering with an anti-LGBTQ+ company with a track record of racism, Islamophobia, enabling multiple genocides and supports fascist and authoritarian politicians ... but, you very definitely are partnering with them.
EDITED to add: at least you're parterning with them for now. Nothing's written in stone! At some point SWF's partners -- who all know better than to trust Meta -- may well decide that the organization is more to succeed holding Meta at arms length instead of embracing them. Time will tell!
