@Mrfunkedude These are LED walls. As soon as you lock the door the walls become non transparant. It is fail safe, if there is a power failure all walls will go non transparant, it takes an electric current to turn them transparant.
At least it's very easy to see which toilets are free and reasonably clean.

@renespronk @Mrfunkedude that's actually really cool. I wouldn't have found that out by attempting to use one. I hope there's a sign on the door or something that explains all this! 😅

@sillyCoelophysis @Mrfunkedude I visited one of these in Cologne, Germany, and that one didn't have any explanation. It's really strange to step inside, lock the door and see that all walls go opaque, a creamy greyish color.
This photo probably wasn't shot in Germany, this doesn't look like their style of water closet.
