At least they're transparent about their policies.

@Mrfunkedude Where, may I ask, the hell has this photo been taken?

@Mrfunkedude @FelisCatus the courage to go into one of those and to subsequently clear the room. ah... privacy.

@Mrfunkedude I think I may start replying to privacy updates with this photo

@Mrfunkedude These are LED walls. As soon as you lock the door the walls become non transparant. It is fail safe, if there is a power failure all walls will go non transparant, it takes an electric current to turn them transparant.
At least it's very easy to see which toilets are free and reasonably clean.

@renespronk @Mrfunkedude that's actually really cool. I wouldn't have found that out by attempting to use one. I hope there's a sign on the door or something that explains all this! πŸ˜…

@sillyCoelophysis @Mrfunkedude I visited one of these in Cologne, Germany, and that one didn't have any explanation. It's really strange to step inside, lock the door and see that all walls go opaque, a creamy greyish color.
This photo probably wasn't shot in Germany, this doesn't look like their style of water closet.

@Mrfunkedude Their privacy poolicy smells to me like there's something foul going on. Some real dirty business. I don't have squat for evidence yet... But trust me. I have a hunch.

@Mrfunkedude I attended a conference in Sanya, China a few years ago and discovered to my horror that the hotel's bathrooms had transparent walls. And not LED walls either, just glass. I thought it must be a quirk of the conference hotel but when I stayed out by the airport at a Holiday Inn (before catching my flight the next day), the bathroom there was also transparent! So take a couple of sheets with you if you plan to visit Sanya...

@isotope239 I think I might have sprayed shaving foam or something all over those walls before using the facility...

Aloniax

@isotope239 I have showered with my knickers and a vest on before now in "shared" showers or when outdoors at a campsite under my portable bag shower...

@Mrfunkedude
I'm going to guess that is either a military facility or it is using the fancy new LCD glass that goes opaque at the touch of a button.

@Mrfunkedude The real horror is that none of those stalls appear to have a toilet paper dispenser.

@Mrfunkedude

So semi-consensus is that they're LCD walls that go opaque. What happens if the power goes out? Is it suddenly buttsville?

@Mrfunkedude #AltText is missing the text that appears on the image, which is central to the joke: "We have updated our privacy policy."
