I can't understand the fuss about Israeli soldiers who put on the underwear of Gazan women. They meant that as mockery, which is not nice, but mockery is as nothing compared to the atrocities committed against those same women (and almost all of Gaza). Those women (and their families) have been driven from their homes. Some have been killed, and more are being killed. Those soldiers have probably participated in the real atrocities.

@drewdevault fwiw I don't read that as "defending soldiers that are wearing Gazan womens underwear". I read it as people being more outraged about _that_ than the killing and it took me a while to read it otherwise.

@drewdevault yikes. While I hate to admit it, I've made that mistake before:
- Horrible thing X happens.
- We're all upset about X
- Slightly less horrible (still horrible!) thing Y happens. Y is a result of X.
- Everyone's upset about Y
- Me: why are we upset about Y when X is causing it, is even worse, and is still ongoing?
- How people see me: stop being snowflakes about Y, it's not that bad.

Although I only had to make that mistake once, and I was in my teens/early 20s...

@drewdevault Could this be classified as "whataboutism"? He apparently does see that this is "not nice" so I struggle to understand how he fails to understand the issue here, even more so in the face of the war crimes committed.
