"Fuck it," I said, "let's buy some pre-made hummus."

We never buy pre-made hummus, we always make our own, but after today's difficult sail we were both tired and hungry. At the grocery store, I then saw the price of a small tub of hummus.

"We... are making our own hummus!"

I have these thoughts once in a while, especially when I'm tired, but it always ends with me choosing to make the hummus. Always.

Tubs at the grocery store are grossly tiny, and expensive :angy:

@rek what do you use to mash them up?

corbẏn

@rek That's not too bad, I always thought I'd need a big mortar and pestle to make it smooth.

@rek @a_corbin Oh interesting I thought a food processor (that I don't have) was 100% necessary HMM

@calutron @a_corbin mine just looks like this, its been mashing up chickpeas into hummus since 2016 :P...
I can get it smooth enough, just requires more mashing and more liquid.

@rek
(sidetracked: way-back-when, Saveur magazine had an article with multiple hummus recipes – the one that stood out only mashed half the beans, the rest were stirred in whole)

@cerement I do that sometimes, but mostly due to laziness :neofox_laugh_nervous:

@rek The last time I went to buy store-made hummus I flipped the package over and saw they'd made the underside concave so it contained even less. 😐
