Has there ever been a better pre-credit sequence than the 20 minute Spider-Gwen story at the start of Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse?

@simon In my opinion nothing beats “Up” yet. It was almost a whole movie in 7 minutes.

@scanner hah, I was literally just thinking about Up in comparison to Across the Spider-Verse, as one of the only other examples I can think of where they packed so much storytelling, character development and emotional depth into a relatively short sequence at the start of the film

@simon There is also “Finding Nemo” which if you do not know what is going to happen is an emotional shock once you see the (I think it is a) Gar fish, but is below “Across the Spider-Verse” and “Up”, but still up there.

@simon @scanner I dove into this thread to say this almost exactly. 🙌🏻

@simon I really hope the rumours about Sony and the directors feuding are wrong.

@simon Not many, probably. Should have won an Academy Award for animation, imho. I was literally watching with my mouth open when I saw it at the cinema.

@simon fully co-signed +“self love” by coi leray and metro boomin is an absolutely perfect soundtrack to that opening
