For some reason the #Leprous Melodies of Atonement LP is 45 RPM instead of 33 RPM, first time I've had to switch the band on the record player.

@Gargron Ive got quite alot of albums on 45rpm. Also have some that are 33 on one side 45 on the other. I went with having a psu that switches the speed for the rega p6 instead of having to move the band

@Gargron 45 is really old. Even older than 35. So it's rare

@Gargron I own many vinyl LP's and only one is 45 RPM. It was odd for me when I had to switch the band also.

@Gargron @dimillian yeah, higher fidelity. You can actually get reissues of great albums on 45 - more discs, better sound quality

@Gargron What? “Band”? I find it weird other people here are also saying that. Are they just following your lead or is there any sense to that? I would have assumed it's a simple typo from getting confused between record decks and radio receivers for just a second.

@Gargron Aha, thanks!

I'd never used a belt drive player personally, so I had to google this right now 😅

If anyone else is wondering: Instead of changing the speed of the motor, (at least on some) you gotta manually “change gear” by moving the belt to a bigger pulley. This page has a nice illustration: uturnaudio.com/pages/installin
