Today, the Klamath River is flowing freely for the first time in more than 100 years. The dams have been removed. The ecosystems are being nurtured. And sovereignty has been restored to the Shasta Indian Nation over another 2800 acres. Good things are happening.  @josh in a day that was otherwise shit, this is really great news! Anytime a dam is removed I feel happy ❤️   @josh I hadn’t known about the project. Hopefully more rivers will be freed, more land restored. @josh how will they make up for the lost electricity? I hope it's not gonna be oil  @DelilahTech @louisrcouture @josh @josh Im really impressed with the tribe's ability to get native plants in place while the dams were being dismantled. Kept the riff-raff weeds and invasive species out. Good job all around       Let's give the land back to those whose ancestors' bones are buried here, because nobody knows and loves this land like its people do. The least we can do is return it to them and pay rent for the occupation.  @josh went to Mt Shasta and the areas around back in 1983. Roads were closed with many meters of snow towards the top,even if it was in May. Marvelous nature. I remember a grotto which we sailed to and climbed a bit. @josh If only the damn dam building #NDP in #BritishColumbia weren't so captured by the #fossilfuel aka #LNG industry, then the destructive Site C #megadam might not have been built.   |
