@zverik I think there have been discussions over the years about going to something more like openstreetmap.fr/

I think the problem with that is that many mappers go to osm.org specifically to see their changes get rendered and making the map smaller is less satisfying when you do that.

@InsertUser yup, perpetuating the notion that OSM is just a map, and hiding the people and the data.

It's like with cycle lanes: unless you build them, you won't see cyclists. How you frame the project dictates what people do with it.

Well, Image of the Week is hard to curate (and it was the wiki), but a simple semi-automatic welcome page with an explanation, list of events, how to use / contribute / contact, would be much better than what we have.

Even the old wikipage might advertise the community more than the map (which is great as well :) ).

As for the image if the week - props to @harry_wood again.
