@zverik I think there have been discussions over the years about going to something more like https://www.openstreetmap.fr/
I think the problem with that is that many mappers go to osm.org specifically to see their changes get rendered and making the map smaller is less satisfying when you do that.
@InsertUser yup, perpetuating the notion that OSM is just a map, and hiding the people and the data.
It's like with cycle lanes: unless you build them, you won't see cyclists. How you frame the project dictates what people do with it.
