@bamboombibbitybop "consolo" is near the word "console" but in some languages it means "confort", but is also, and more importantly, a vulgarism for "dildo". So "pilet" (I guess as in "support for a structure") is much better for marketing. @jt_rebelo @kde@floss.social @soulscircuit @kde@lemmy.kde.social ah, thanks! that makes sense.  @bamboombibbitybop my guess: "console" is something that white collar workers from 1960 and modern tech nerds are familiar with, while "pilot" makes me think of palmpilot and pilot pens, and "pilet" is Estonian for "ticket", also related to its forward/travel/small/square/portable form. They may have discovered that the word didn't work in some languages also. |

see, any foss project needs a name that’s impossible to pronounce in English at first glance, so speakers of every other language won’t feel alienated, thus wider global appeal. /s
