Gregory's ServerPush Notifications and Dark Mode are the last essential features in the @pixelfed app, and I'm working hard to ship them ASAP so we can finally release the app to the app stores.

 @dansup @pixelfed Thank you for your efforts, but if #ActivityPub (#mastodont, #gitea #pixelfed and #loops etc.) is to be used by many and to use its potenzualities it must be #SelfHosted because of its #opensource nature. Therefore its installation and management, e.g., in #kdeplasma, #proxmox, #freebsd, #truenas, #nextcloud etc. should be simplified. Also imagine an integration between #openstreetmap and #activitypub , it would be a huge benefit for the #opensource #community 🌎🌍  |

Do you know what was the (well documented) feature of Instagram which propelled it to success before being acquired?
It seemed insta-nt. It did this by uploading your images while you were still playing with filters and writing titles and body text. You "never" needed to wait for upload to finish.
A lot of stuff, including Dark Mode, is very secondary compared to reducing the time people have to wait.
