 @pixelfed @nebula Ah ok on twitter when I was targeted by a specific far right harassment campaign, one of the things that was done would shove a bunch of LGBT people ( myself included ) into blocklists, even though we're the ones it's suppose to benefit, and used to target fellow LGBT comic creators. ( I actually stopped using Mastodon for a while, as they were trying to do that on here as well, but trying to do false reports against LGBT people. ) @lwflouisa @nebula Thanks for responding. I wonder if we set a reasonable limit of 200 or 250 max accounts per block list, if that would solve this issue, as it would make it less desirable to abuse you described, while also allowing for legitimate use. Please let us know if that is something you think could resolve your worries, and if not, if you have other ideas on how to improve a feature like this to prevent abuse, do let us know. We want to get it right, and your opinion matters a lot ❤️  @pixelfed Sounds like a recipe for pileons to me. Time and time again we see bad actors getting control of blocklists. @fishidwardrobe We want to get this right with a reasonable limit of around 200-250 accounts per list. We think this is a good balance between potential abuse and legitimate use, and would love to hear your opinion in this regard! @pixelfed a list of 250 minority accounts created by a bad actor is good how? edit: I'm really not sure "a good balance" is an appropriate thing to aim for, even. It's kind of like having a bar that admits Nazis, but only four at a time. |
