@dansup Do you have documentation on the details of comment control yet? Is it only automatic-allow for specific groups or does it support an interactive mode where e.g. the comment can be submitted, but interactive approval is required (according to some filter)?

Something that I think would help *a lot* with connections to less moderated huge instances would be to set a first-comment(s) approval mode for them: If someone comments/replies from such an instance, those comments are collected and can be allowed/rejected by moderators in a view that shows their overall comment history. Plus a button to approve the commenter in general.
This could also be combined with a word/phrase filter to require manual approval, with the same option to exempt accounts.

I'm aware this would need a lot of UI, also to communicate that a made comment is 'pending approval' or something like that, but it could fix the 'whack a mole' problem of purely reactive moderation when connecting to large instances as a small instance.

@Qazm Not yet, still working on that!

I've reached out to @gotosocial and hope to collaborate on interop with @pixelfed

Wouldn't that be cool, two non-mastodon projects working together to show the fediverse what can be done.

I'm hopeful that GtS will be receptive to such an iconic collab 🤞

@dansup Once it's fully documented, partial interop through Bridgy Fed could also be possible, seeing as how ATProto controls are a subset of what Pixelfed will support (though, if I'm not mistaken it would require Bridgy Fed to implement synchronised follower collections).

It's not a perfect match due to architecture differences, and I have my issues with the ATProto model, but overall I think it would be healthy to make small-fediverse content available there in as high fidelity as possible.
