@LydiaConwell @jay_peper @cmconseils
The world abroad sees, even those so close as those across the sleeve, the remnant of The Empire as England.
Dissolve the Union.

Oh just piss of I've no time for pedants.
Besides in ~600 AD there were no "English."

@nrmacdonald that's the point.

Arthurian legends predate England (and King Arthur would've fought against those that would create England ~300 years later. He would've been Welsh/Briton, but not English)

@jay_peper

I took a look about your profile and we agree on most all, why have you some reason for arguing what's the "The Empire" annaw?
I think I like you.

Sarah Jay Peper 🏳️‍⚧️ replied to int%rmitt]nt sig^al. ...~!...)

@nrmacdonald I don't know why we're arguing, you didn't seem to like that I "corrected" you from England to Wales for the whole Ruler-via-sword-in-lake-meme

(and I know 'Wales' is also kinda incorrect b/c it's a Saxon exonym for the Britons. But not sure if 'Cymry' would've confused even more)

Aye I made a joke that was poorly received It was actually to point out that anything to do with anything in the Isles is perceived to be "English" and yes it was clumsy. Please accept my most sincere apologies.

@nrmacdonald @jay_peper yes as a German I have to admit: whole GB/UK is generally perceived to be English. The others only appear either in football championships or in a particular topic. I am truly sorry for that. But’s comparable to the legend that every German wears Bavarian clothing and drinks beer 🍻

@Sunny @jay_peper
JaJaJa I get it
My father is Scottish and my mother Bavarian.
They married in 1947. It's a long and complicated story.

@Sunny @nrmacdonald @jay_peper

Hmm.. I as a German perceive this lovely island to be all Scottish... *G*

What a lovely wee claidheamh-mòr for a quinee... 😉

"Welsh" would be Okay, too... BTW...

I love to see how you two sorted out your issue.
What an amazing place to be! :anarchoheart3:

@jay_peper @nrmacdonald Briton yes but not Welsh. He was king of Logres which is supposed to be the south and east of present-day England, and, through his mother, also ruled over Cornwall (Many versions make him rule over all the Britons though, including Wales, Cambria and Brittany - where most of Lancelot-related events happen)

Chip Butty

@nrmacdonald @cmconseils why? The sword wasn't found in England and Arthur wasn't an English king

int%rmitt]nt sig^al. ...~!...)

@mrsbeanbag @otfrom @cmconseils
Yah, sort of and sort of when.
Cornish/English history is a mess.

Mrs Beanbag

@nrmacdonald @otfrom @cmconseils well i know Cornwall used to be part of Wales, but not when this sword was found, which was in 2017. or when it was dropped in, for that matter, unless it was a magic sword, that could lie underwater for 1500 years and not rust to almost nothing

Walrus

@mrsbeanbag

I know some people who would tell you, Kernow is adjacent to England.

Mrs Beanbag

@Walrus yeah i think i have seen such people at car boot sales. nevertheless
