 @gosha I hear you. Even in corporate world, there’s now a lot of anxiety about layoffs (which are often not based on your individual performance so you can’t control it) and/or return to office. That said, I know precisely 0 people in your first category who also have kids and don’t have a an alternative stable source of income (e.g. through another low-key job, a partner, family wealth or savings from some previous cashout event)  @gosha What if you find a job that doesn't require much of you, pays enough, and gives you space to work on your projects in your free time? @dualhammers That would've worked well when I didn't have a family, and I unfortunately didn't take advantage of this opportunity at the time (I tried, in some way). Much, much more difficult to accomplish now. @gosha Yeah, it seems like people I know who have children are in an untenable position unless you find your way into really cushy jobs or some form of exploitative class position |
