@forrestbrazeal the good thing about SQL is that you can inject it into pretty much any technology conversation. @forrestbrazeal ah yes, Senior Query Language, for constructing questions that will elicit the correct answer from greybeards without setting them off on one of their little rants. @joshourisman @forrestbrazeal @forrestbrazeal Wait a minute! Does that mean that JavaScript and Python developers are demi-gods or something as they have no need for semicolons? :blobfoxcrylaugh: @xgebi @forrestbrazeal the python senior devs don't need semicolons, unfortunately all the python senior devs in the world have been holed up in a conference room since last September trying to figure out why something called "Poetry" is printing a error message If a JavaScript dev thinks JS doesn't require semicolons, they're probably not a senior dev! The real senior devs have all encountered situations where lack of semicolon can cause bugs due to ambiguity in the ECMA grammar @mcc good thing I'm not JS dev and can rely on automatic semicolon insertion when I forget one, almost every other language including CSS doesn't work properly when it's not there @forrestbrazeal @forrestbrazeal @inthehands A lot of senior software engineers are “massively overhyped.” I’d be inclined to switch “massively overhyped” with “technically just a slow database”, but I guess that would make it mean instead of funny. @forrestbrazeal I can't believe I just got called "Technically just a slow database" and I can't even dispute it. @forrestbrazeal I'm in this picture, I don't like it, and I'm absolutely certain I can convince you that I shouldn't be in this picture if I can just get you to listen to logic. A Venn diagram with three partly overlapping circles. In the non-overlapping part: 1: Blockchain: still searching for a use case 2: "Gen AI": Still searching for a business model 3: Senior Developer: still seraching for a semicolon Intersection of 2 circles: Blockchain & AI: massively overhyped Blockchain & Dev: Falsely believes, logic can solve human disputes AI & Dev: writes buggy code Intersection of all 3: Technically just a slow database @forrestbrazeal a domain specific language for ai? perfect. i'll get started right away. |
