@pixelfed do you plan on blacklisting some topics?

haven't really seen any harmful things yet, I'm talking more about stuff like #nobot which serves more of a technical purpose

@pixel @pixelfed that’s a good question, I did build an admin dashboard that allows one to ban topics, users or whole domains but I haven’t had to use it yet. I’m still considering how to handle removing topics, it’s a challenging problem!

@dansup @pixelfed yeah, in this case it's just funny to see a bunch of people grouped in #nobot, which is fedi's agreed on "I don't want bot interactions" hashtag

which doesn't make it really topical!

otherwise, the directory is really nice, and you did a good job on it! 👌

@pixel Yeah I get that but you literally have to opt-in by adding the rarely used #fedi22 hashtag. I don't see the point in removing the nobot topic though, this is not a bot interaction since we require the hashtag

@pixelfed Added myself today. I found it confusing to search for topics because I assumed that since I was putting hashtags in my profile I would search using #. Figured it out, but maybe a note saying to leave the # out? Thanks for this.

I think your Profile Detection doesn't seem to be working properly. Despite added hashtag, unfortunately it does not recognize the fedi22.

Sometimes you need to wait a few minutes for the instance cache to reflect your bio changes, anyways if you have any issues please let us know!

@pixelfed @Gargron could you make it that we could set interests in a tab like we have now for links? It would be easier to separate and bio wouldn't be spammy

@pixelfed Could we get a page that lists all the hashtags? Optionally with the ability to filter tags based on how many people have it in their bio? Just searching for hashtags isn't as explore-friendly.
