@jaz I want a free, fair and equal Internet - as we knew it in the 1990s. Not dominated by a few global players. #TellEveryone  @jaz I run my own micro-instance, and it's great to be able to connect with the wider world on my own terms. @jaz I enjoy straightforward, honest interactions with real people about everyday things in our lives. There may be hope for this world yet! @jaz I love having a smaller, cosier community than on any of the big social media sites. As a result, I have more contact with those in charge and know who I can talk to if I or anyone else needs help.  @jaz I can run, and be a part of, the community I've always wanted to exist, and manage it in a way I wish other social media sites were managed. #TellEveryone One network that isn't restricted! That's the #Fediverse to me, how #socialmedia was supposed to be. Having decentralised moderation and being truly unbiased about people and what they say. No #algorithm controlling you! No #bigtech controlling you! That's the Fediverse!  @jaz There's no algorithm, just people listening to and talking with other people. No ads, no brands, no influencers... just a collection of lovely folk interacting, and being kind and helpful. #TellEveryone π’  @jaz One can follow hashtags I don't know if that's a thing elsewhere. And people are friendly and helpful. And the creatives. Lots of people on the fediverse inspire others, and because of that it makes it a cool place. @jaz #TellEveryone that the Fediverse is algorithm-free (unlike Threads) and timelines are in chronological order, that it's more like the early internet, and that there are no advertisements, which are all things I hate about other platforms.  @jaz A decentralized network controlled by people feels better than a few money-generating misery machines controlled by egotrips of billionaires. #TellEveryone @jaz No ads, chronological feed, and more mods per member than any commercial social network, so there's no nazis! π @jaz No paid-for advertising shoved in my face! Plus tons of lovely people who are dedicated to building a friendlier, safer online environment.  @jaz Even though there's a smaller number of members, I get more interactions, probably because of the chronicalogical timeline that let's you see everything your friends post. Whenever I ask a question, want to promote something, or have an important thought to share, I know I'll get plenty of good responses! #TellEveryone @jaz To me there's a marked difference in Toxicity here when compared to other different social media sites, and I'm sure that comes as a result of the hardwork that you and other on the Fediverse do. Also not just seeing Cymraeg online, but actively encouraged is lush in a world where it is so often denigrated #TellEveryone @jaz I love @jaz "Almost 100 times as many people interact with each post we make on here, even though we have 100 times as many followers on Twitter/X." That's not an exaggeration, it's the actual numbers, worked out two weeks ago, based on replies and shares on each platform, and their own figures for our views on X. That combines to four orders of magnitude more reach! We get a higher total of active engagements here than we get passive views there. @jaz my feed has the content I chose, not random rubbish I never asked for. #TellEveryone  @jaz @madgeface More positivity, more real people, fewer bogus "influencers," great tools for finding (or blocking) content. #TellEveryone @jaz @jaz I have easily turned my feed into predominantly positive, interesting, thoughtful or funny posts with huge helpings of beautiful photos and a sprinkling of good advice, self help and local knowledge  @jaz  @jaz I love the fact that the Fedi isn't sanitised by advertising and algorithms. It feels so much more human than other places. @jaz No ads, chronological timeline that I get to curate myself, lots of lovely people interacting respectfully, many pictures of sheep.  @jaz I enjoy how I get random, super specific content about a niche outside my bubble. @jaz nothing to add, other folks have it covered in their replies, but what a very positive thread to read (which makes the points in itself). Iβve disagreed with people on here and we ended up mutually following each other! Even on PillowFort, thatβs unheard of.  @jaz I've met some fucking awesome people here and they're NOT trying to shill crypto to me! Amazingly friendly and interactive communities here for just about everyoneβwhich makes sense since most of the userbase is made up of good people who fled the Twitter cesspool. It would be nice to see ...   @jaz One thing I don't see mentioned a lot is how it's not constantly trying to steal my attention and take up more of my time. It's not trying to hook me. All the big social media companies (even LinkedIn) will start making up new things to send you notifications like "here's what you missed" or whatever to make you open their app  @jaz  |
