@aledjones But you already have one. In any case, no, it's not obligatory, just a guideline @gargron I could maybe spin up a fresh instance in something a bit more reliable than my little solo test server later this week but the thought of remembering to moderate and maintain it has me spooked. @ramsey I don't remember ever seeing it in submissions. Maybe it was when the list was uncurated and sourced from instances.social. @Gargron did you look into bringing Twitter spaces and communities to mastodon? The more the feature gap, the harder it becomes to leave Twitter. Entirely or partially. @Gargron untung aku udah pindah web https yang RTP nya tinggi jadi aman nih saldo, aku share nih webnya https://bit.ly/3O6O1xM @Gargron @Gargron I will apply once I got my backups sorted. Currently weekly, but daily will be possible soon. @Gargron I'm working on something that could handle scale -- you saw my little Kubernetes PR -- but the implications of running a big instance are sort of terrifying as you certainly understand. Is there a place that instance admins get together to chat about attracting, training, and supporting new admins for the growth this network/software deserves? I've met some great people in Matrix chats but we aren't focused on the minutiae of community development so much as that of tech implementation @Gargron So, I don’t have the time or energy to host a server for other people (outside of my family/friend circle), but I’m wondering: as a simple user, would it better technically if I hosted my own server (with only me on it)? I’m not asking ideologically speaking, but on a technical level. Does load actually decrease for each individual instances if users spread out? |
@Gargron Do you have a guide for running Mastodon at scale? Or are there devops tasks that need to be done to better support the project / network?
