@Gargron I opened a new account on the mastodon.online server as the .social one is practically unusable. Migrating was a nightmare so I basically copied my account details and re-followed everyone all over again. Hope this new server holds up.

@Gargron I get that Federation spreads the load around but discovery is really bad between instances so if you want to quickly find people you like it's better on bigger instances. We need better cross-instance discovery options.

I think it would be good to have some guidelines for people who also join like that, without invitations to specific servers

If you randomise the order of instances in the app, it'll reduce the load: most people are choosing this one because it's first.

@Gargron I think part of this is because you have mastodon.social set up to look very similar to Twitter, unlike some other servers.

From personal experience, I was on mastodon.xyz for a bit and... it was fine but the UX wasn't to my liking (looked a lot like TwitDeck, which is too busy for me).
