Well nearly 100 boosts and it's done practically nothing, interesting.

@gamingonlinux

Were you testing because of today's post on itsfoss.org saying "Please don't boost this on Mastodon"?

Liam @ GamingOnLinux 🐧🎮

@rdnielsen yes, and so far from this post being multiple times more popular than the majority of their posts.... there's literally no issue

@gamingonlinux @rdnielsen The "Mastodon effect" is a real thing, but its impact will depend heavily on how a site is set up. I'm surprised a news site would struggle with it.

Discussion on the Mastodon GitHub here: github.com/mastodon/mastodon/i A fix seems to be currently planned for 4.4.0.

@gamingonlinux You need to write some click-bait, my man.

You can have these for free..

Number 11 is the best!

A screenshot of a conversation between myself an ChatGPT 4.

"I run a Linux Gaming website where people submit news articles for review. I need to write a filter which detects some clickbait posts that get submitted for review. Give me some sample headlines - each no more than 10-20 words. Things that are outrageous clickbait would be best, so I can test my filters."

"Sure! Here are some clickbait-style headlines that you can use to test your filters:

"Gamers Won't Believe What Linux Can Do Now – The Results Are Shocking!"
"This New Linux Gaming Hack Gives You Unlimited FPS – Try It Before It's Banned!"
"Top 10 Reasons Why Linux Gamers Are Smarter – Number 7 Will Amaze You!"
"Discover the Linux Gaming Secret That Developers Don't Want You to Know!"
"Why Every Gamer Is Switching to Linux in 2024 – The Inside Scoop!"
"See How This Simple Linux Trick Enhances Your Gaming Performance Overnight!"
"Experts Are Baffled By This New Linux Gaming Phenomenon – Find Out Why!"
"You've Been Gaming on Linux All Wrong – Learn What the Pros Do!"
"Is This the End of Windows Gaming? Why Linux Is Taking Over!"
"Unlock Extreme Gaming Performance on Linux with These Forbidden Tweaks!"
These headlines should provide a good basis for testing your clickbait filters, as they use hyperbolic language and tease sensational content, typical of clickbait."

@gamingonlinux This is because you are not running your website on a potato

Robert @ Tech Addressed

@gamingonlinux this is because of that bit from It's FOSS? I hope you can conclusively show this is FUD.

@gamingonlinux I think who boosts you is more important than how many. A single boost from someone follows by users on thousands of servers is going to do more than 100 boosts from single-digits. That being said, I've done my part twice in case timezones matter too 8-)
