I'm surprised a news site would struggle with it. A single boost from someone follows by users on thousands of servers is going to do more than 100 boosts from single-digits. That being said, I've done my part twice in case timezones matter too 8-) @gamingonlinux they didn't describe anything that should make a static site sweat at all. The scale they described is laughable. Their chokepoint is probably some overburdened and optimized comment database or something.  @gamingonlinux As @jeffgerstmann mentioned in the podcast, people have discovered they made a whole game series based on the TV series. Shocking. ๐ I love that on mastodon, people asking for boosts is not a thinly veiled attempt at manipulating the algorithm for more future engagement like it is on other platforms. Your post isn't pulling in the image, so boosting it probably isn't going to DDOS your system as strongly as it might.
