I wrote four thousand words on the follies of Humane, theories of what happened, and why you can't build Apple within the Venture Capital system. Enjoy.

@sandofsky I found that a wonderful article to read. Thank you!

@sandofsky this is great, and I agree with pretty much everything in here. Having worked at Nest (but not Apple!), there are a lot of parallels, and it's just painful to look through various steps that I just shake my head and said "Nest never would have done that".

@sandofsky one note: unless they were _frantic_ (and maybe they were), I doubt they were willing to sell at a loss. Even for rev 1s, Nest was hyper focused on BOM cost and profit, and a suggestion to sell at a loss would have been met with horror and confusion.

@sandofsky Good read. Thanks! Interesting ending about the VP. Wondering if even Apple can’t do Apple anymore. Feels more AppleTV than iPhone.

@sandofsky Phenomenonal read, thank you. I do appreciate big swings and thinking that tries to move the ball forward but Humane didn’t really know where it was going all along. I can see how it’s easy to get frustrated inside Apple but trying to replicate it is a fool’s errand

@sandofsky “the firm millions of dollars a year off of it” seems to be missing a word
