  Hey Dan, I was wondering if you're familiar with Casey Neistat's failed social network Beme. I was on it at the time, and I always found the emphasis on authenticity hugely inspiring, and I shared far more on it than I ever did on instagram. Not sure what your vision for loops is, but I'm sure it'll be awesome. I just wanted to leave this with you to see if you get anything out of it:  TikTok, Instagram reels, VK clips and other similar services work because they have everything anyone has ever posted on there. Millions of minutes of video are uploaded every minute, and all that feeds The Algorithm™, giving it the freedom to choose what it serves to you. How are you going to address the problem of not having enough content in Loops due to its decentralized nature? So when someone starts a new server, where would the content come from? Would you just federate everything to all known network? @grishka
This is a very good question. I too am wondering how they will backfill content and label content to make search easier. The users of TikTok have essentially switched from Google to TikTok to search. I imagine with having betas and supporting other Snapchat & TikTok fedi alternatives such as Goldfish and Vidzy they’re hoping that helps. |
@dansup @loops It would be amazing after you get the simple version finished if users can choose and create and share new algorithms with each other.
