I'm pretty tired of having to use #GoogleMaps to share locations with people I'm making appointments with.

I've made a little application to convert the sharing links from #OrganicMaps to Google Maps which I open in this example, but there's no need in practice, I just have to share it with whoever I want!

#OpenStreetMap #OSM

@retiolus looks nice!

One question: is it published?

I'm using f-droid.org/packages/org.calan for the same use case, but the text it sends includes geo:, osm and gmaps links. Bah, geo: is not always a link (see wiki.openstreetmap.org/wiki/Ge)

@retiolus Does Google Maps not support geo URI links? Seems like a massive oversight on their part if so.

I've continued to work on #osm2gmaps app over the last two weeks, and it should appear on #FDroid in the next few days 🥳

It converts links from #OSM-based applications to #GoogleMaps, #AppleMaps, #MagicEarth, (tell me more please). And after @glowl's comment, it can also do the opposite!

I've also set up mapu.retiolus.net, which can be activated in the settings, if needed, to resolve certain short links from Google Maps without going through their servers.

Oh, my! Thank you so much for this app! I was looking for it for so long.

Unfortunately apps like #OsmAnd don't have the feature to share a #GoogleMaps link but only Geo link.

And my friends are always annoyed because of course #GMaps can't understand them.

By the way the URL you got in your Codeberg repository (f-droid.org/packages/net.retio) gives me 404 Page not found

retiolus

@panigrc still not available on F-Droid, comming in a few days, you can download it on git release page: codeberg.org/retiolus/osm2gmap

retiolus

Translated to French, Spanish and Catalan ✅

Now available on F-Droid: f-droid.org/packages/net.retio

@retiolus clico al enllaç i surt un missatge de "no s'ha trobat l'aplicació". Vaig a fdroid i, pel nom osm2...no hi ha cap aplicació

retiolus

@Crike però... has actualitzat repositoris a F-Droid?

retiolus

The code is certainly not very "professional", the UI needs to be reviewed, but it's probably the first time I am having fun with Android development.

The next version 0.4.0 will include an 'About' page and a button to get the location without having to open another application.

@retiolus

**Awesome,** what a great app. So useful for everyone who uses OSM based apps. Thanks a million for creating it and sharing it over F-Droid.

Ander

Per cert, com t'ho has fet perquè afegeixin l'app a F-Droid tan ràpid?

retiolus

retiolus

@ander_dapo està prou bé, ara l'app és molt simple suposo, no hi ha gaire cosa a verificar... Però si, de vegades poden trigar bastant!
