This style of packaging is actually better than the one with a plastic lid. You still have to cut off one of the corners to get the last bit of milk out because of how the lid is positioned. The awkward pull tab that makes your finger hurt is also meh. The only problem with this one is that it's non-trivial to close it tightly.

But then sometimes this "let's get rid of plastic" initiative produces truly bad solutions. Here's the atrociously flat all-paper coffee lid I got at a Starbucks in Brussels:
