I enjoy having Kindle "popular highlights" turned on because it lets me go "Really? 438 people highlighted THIS of all things?"

@darius Iām always curious about the feedback loops of that system. How many people paused, noticed, and highlighted that passage themselves because it was already called out as a popular highlight? @gangles right? I wonder if I can coordinate an effort to create a popular highlight of an innocuous sentence like "She walked outside." @darius Just having the pipeline to record what people have highlighted strikes me as extremely creepy. It is why I have never been a fan of medium.com |
@darius I turn them off because I've found that I feel a strange internal pressure to highlight the same thing š¤·š»āāļø
