Wife's just shown me this.....

Professional golfer Georgia Ball - a certified PGA pro recording herself practising her swing, as a random man comes up to tell her she's doing it wrong.......

@TheBreadmonkey so imagine this but 10,000 times a day

@mckra1g

I've said it before, but I think if there's one thing that social media has probably been 'good' for, it's been lifting the veil to allow people like me to see the kinds of relentless unrepentant garbage that some people have to endure.

@TheBreadmonkey one of the most frustrating (& terrifying) things is that a woman never knows if the mansplainer will become violent if his “well-meaning” advice isn’t heeded or received well. So she usually has to thread the needle between acknowledging him w/o encouraging him (bc some men interpret nice = she wants me). Again: it’s exhausting. #NotAllMen

Heliograph

@TheBreadmonkey jeez my head just exploded and not just that :skeletonlaugh: :skellysplode: :stabbycat: I hope that guy is made to watch this, excellent composure on G's side!!!

@KingShawn
All people are useful. In this case this man has hopefully helped thousands of others like him know when to leave people alone!

Luke

@TheBreadmonkey I didn't quite catch how many years he's been playing golf... I don't think he mentioned it enough times.

PalmAndNeedle

@TheBreadmonkey If this ends any other way than that tool eating club, I'll be disappointed.

@TheBreadmonkey
She was so polite and kept her cool.
A response of "fuck off, I know what I'm doing" would have been appropriate.
And what great drives!

@TheBreadmonkey
At least he didn't tell her to smile 'cause she'd look prettier that way.
🤬

@TheBreadmonkey I want to know who the dude is and how he’s reacting to the viral video.

Ben :bc:

@kickpedal Probably off playing golf. He's been playing for 20 years, you know.

soy un verano enflorecido

@TheBreadmonkey I saw some posts about it and omg it's so much worse than I pictured it. Wow.

@gettingcomputey @TheBreadmonkey His advice is so powerful she got so much better just like THAT

Rein of forgiveness

@TheBreadmonkey
See, she's just being too polite. Tell him to shut the fuck up.

@joehill @TheBreadmonkey That was my takeaway. You gotta get through it however works for you, but I was hoping for some comeuppance

@peterbutler

@joehill @TheBreadmonkey

There is someone in the mentions explaining her behaviour (better than I can, but here my version):
It is not an easy choice to answer verbally aggressive, some men become angry and attack physically.

Ametonym⁷

@thief_of_time @peterbutler @joehill @TheBreadmonkey This. It generally ends poorly for women who stick up for themselves. 🤷‍♀️ We learn to sop up men's hubris v young, for self-preservation.

@TheBreadmonkey oh my god, the second hand embarrassment I feel watching this video 🙈🫣

L.J. is the cis Minipang

@TheBreadmonkey The video doesn't load for me but I reblogged for that media description, well done! xD

@TheBreadmonkey
😁
Got to say, I am most impressed about how she handled it.
One word..... professional.
🙂

Sir David Nielsen

@TheBreadmonkey @lzg I’d be asking her for advice, those drives look pretty damn on the point, whereas the few times I have been on a driving range, it has ended up all over the place.

Cefr

@TheBreadmonkey Said elsewhere: unsolicited advice is always criticism.

She doesn't understand. He's been a golfer for 20 years and can't tell her directly he wasn't anywhere as good as her when he was her age.

Matt King 🌻

@TheBreadmonkey 20 years but still not a golf pro? Yeah, thanks for the advice.
