@davidzipper the correct sign is this: Sign 251: Cars banned - Tho for the most part you see Sign 250: which is just the red ring on white background, banning all traffic. Not to be confused with Sign 331.1 signifying a Motor Vehicle Road that like Highway are only allowed for use by vehicles that have a mximum speed of at least 61km/h, but unlik a highway do allow for level crossings and traffic lights! In the Washington Post, my take on Tesla Autopilot: “Even if [Tesla owners] accept [Autopilot's risks], what about everyone on a public road or street who is not in a Tesla? @davidzipper maybe tesla will build a bunch of hyperloops for its customers to get around the issue of having to encounter the miserable non-Tesla owning masses @davidzipper that's how i feel about all automated driving. I still can't believe the glaring regulatory failure that is enabling tech bros to put this stuff on public roads @davidzipper if Tesla can be sued for the drivers death, then undoubtedly they can be sued for an innocent third-party’s death. The duty of care to an innocent third-party is always going to be greater than that to the driver. |
@davidzipper There’s no way this is about safety, otherwise there are so many other street-legal vehicles that would also be banned.
@davidzipper as a #EV #keicar owner in #Australia, I can confirm it's happening here too. Even brand new kei cars that previously were able to be grey imported have become unregisterable due to the fact that Japan now harmonises with #EU manufacturing regulations, but there's a few differences with #AU regs, and on that basis they've now decided, FU kei cars. Which is fucking ridiculous. I've got one that is over 10 years old and it's still importable as the changes came in to Japanese manufacturing since then, but one I've been considering to get next that is an as-yet unreleased 2024 new car, may not be possible to get regoed here (still unsure at this point) just total bollocks.
