Social media be like:

"Hi I have a very specific question"

Lots of people: "Well it's not what you asked but..."

Liam

Brave is a shitty browser with a shitty CEO and Kagi using their API is shitty.

Liam

Twitter people are so dumb sometimes 🤣🤭

Liam

Is a fix not an improvement now? 🤯

I'm going to be looking at doing an adverts test on @gamingonlinux soon, only for users not logged in.

As much as I hate them, I am a little capitalist bitch and frankly I need monies.

Liam

Seeing an uptick in attempted casino spam on @gamingonlinux but thankfully our moderation queue system catches them :)

So glad I manually approve the first few posts of all new users, really helped basically remove spam and toxic hit and run posts.

How in 2024 are news reporters still punching down on people that play video games

Sky News are clowns

Liam

The absolute smugness of what was said at the end, utterly ridiculous

Liam

For anyone who plays #WarThunder is there any way to make the spectator camera not absolutely shite?

I'm cackling at the latest developer post from Mike Blumenkrantz.

He's now the Working Group Chairs of OpenGL at Khronos, and naturally because he loves memes, his official photo is basically a meme.

Once again @Samsai has gifted me porn games on Steam.

Why do you do this to me?

Sigh, gonna have to test them in bed with the Steam Deck then I guess.

Liam

Them: you are without a doubt, the worst journalist I've ever seen

Me: ah, but you have heard of me

Liam

Wow, got totally called out for my obviously unprofessional behaviour on @gamingonlinux

So here's a statement I have prepared about what I will do...

Liam

@gamingonlinux

1: I promise to only shit-post on days ending in "ay".

2: I will disrespect you all, more often. You asked for it, obviously.

3: I will continue funneling money into evil big indie gaming.

4: Shut the fuck up, Samsai. Who are you anyway?

Liam

Moderation is fun.

Saw a comment asking why I used a gender neutral word of "themselves" in a @gamingonlinux article. It's just the way I write, as neutral as possible.

The usual "sorry, I'm not native english speaker", that I try to assume is genuine every time this thing comes up. Like when I write "they" instead of he or she.

....

Liam

@gamingonlinux ... Then I went back at their previous comments, and saw they commented about donating to GIMP because you have to be "woke out of your mind" to be bugged by the name.

Sigh. They always out themselves.

The #Linux Hardware Lemmy community I moderate is now the official one for the Linux Hardware Reddit too. Nice.

Hot take: I really hate emails that are just "merry christmas, happy holidays, warm wishes for 2024" sort of thing from any company.

That includes you game devs and publishers.

It's spammy and pointless and just...noise.

@ThePlant i bet email traffic increases over the common holiday seasons. would be interesting to see graphs on this sort of thing. i also wonder if less common holidays have this issue in other cultures or maybe if this sort of deluge happens for popular holidays in larger countries like china?

garpu

@ThePlant I'm not a fan of Christmas letters in the best of days, honestly. (I'm talking the mass-reproduced list of everything wonderful in their lives.)

B@1ty

@ThePlant I usually end up taking a look then remembering why I don't go there anymore, lol

If you’re a #Mastodon admin and you’re going to block #Threads: you don’t care about the open web.

I said what I said.

@ThePlant You are certainly allowed to be wrong and post wrong things on the internet.

Vad fan?
@ThePlant
Nonsense is what you said. Caring about the open web letting in something that poisons the Web and tries to destroy it, that's what you're talking about?
We don't need #Threads here, lepers shouldn't be allowed to walk among normal people.

Gems from Phoronix comments:

"The advocates for CoCs are often the most abrasive, bullying, unprofessional, vitriolic people you will ever meet."

Literally the opposite. It's *always* the people against a CoC that are just...cunts.
