I’m thinking a lot of people somehow paid for more subscriptions to their YouTube channels. When I see channels with more than double what @gamingonlinux has with comparable views a lot, it doesn’t add up. Random “security” company: Hey we found some really minor security improvements you can do on @gamingonlinux here’s the details. Me: cool thanks a lot, nice ideas, done. Company: we know more but won’t tell you unless you pay us Me: blocked @gamingonlinux there’s a lot of these types around, suckering any website in with really really minor stuff then trying to rinse you for money on apparent other issues. It’s a gross way to do business. People on Reddit are so unnecessarily hostile. Person: game works perfectly …. And now I’m getting downvoted and name called, for trying to get the right info. People are such bastards online. https://www.reddit.com/r/SteamDeck/comments/1499wto/comment/jo6mu9a/?context=3 @ThePlant I always feel that people forgett that there is another person sitting on the other side of the internet. United States radio host Bernard Meltzer is accredited with the following quote: > “Before you speak ask yourself if what you are going to say is true, is kind, is necessary, is helpful." I feel like that is an excellent base line for commenting. Running @gamingonlinux can be so frustrating. I get Native port zealots dumping into comments on articles about games in Proton, and desktop-only people moaning in comments on dedicated Steam Deck articles. Why do people feel the need to comment and whine about something not aimed at them 😫 For people who prefer a Reddit-like and plan to try Lemmy turns out I’m still a moderator for the #Linux gaming sub https://lemmy.ml/c/linux_gaming I hope with all the issues surrounding Reddit that people think a little more about traditional forums again. Handing so much knowledge and power over to one site like that is asking for trouble. Remember for all your #Linux gaming to post on @gamingonlinux 😘 Moderating @gamingonlinux can be difficult at times. Some people really cannot handle being warned on bad behaviour. Sent a warning to someone privately to not tell other users to “go back to Windows”. User claimed censorship and deleted their account 🤷♂️👋 So freaking tired of native Linux zealots coming along to @gamingonlinux articles just to moan or announce they won’t buy a game because it’s not native. Jeezus fuck it’s annoying. @gamingonlinux The only platform where gamers will refuse to click play, and announce to everyone, because of what it’s using behind the scenes. So frustrating. Proton is almost 5 years old, you can just hit play and enjoy yourself. But no, must complain. I simply do not understand spammers. The @gamingonlinux mailbox gets so much utter shite all about Chinese manufacturing that is so utterly pointless. Hey #Linux fans, why do you use it on your desktops? I'm not a FOSS purist and frankly, the zealot attitude of some in the Linux community really bothers me. I use Linux because it feels like I actually own it, it's mine, it's more personal, I don't have a company constantly trying to force things on me. It just feels better. Just a message to thank everyone for following and supporting @gamingonlinux for all these years. It’s such a wonderful privilege to be able to do something I love for a living, especially over the last couple years where times have been tough. Much love all. Think I’m going to buy the replacement fan for one of my #SteamDeck. The high pitch noise in one has begun to annoy me more over time. |
