 KaOS 2024.09, an independent Linux distro focused on Qt and KDE, is out with Linux kernel 6.10.11, KDE Plasma 6.1.5, and Qt 6.7.2. It includes new apps like Zed, system updates, a refreshed installer UI, and Calligra as the default office suite instead of LibreOffice. OpenSSH 9.9 disables the DSA signature algorithm by default and plans to remove it by 2025. It introduces a hybrid post-quantum key exchange mechanism, enhanced connection controls, and faster NTRUPrime key exchange. Canonical has released the beta of Ubuntu 24.10 “Oracular Oriole”, powered by Linux kernel 6.11 and GNOME 47. It includes updates like OpenSSL 3.3, Firefox 130, LibreOffice 24.8.3, and Thunderbird 128. NVIDIA users will also default to Wayland instead of Xorg. OpenSSH 9.9 has just been released.
