@cryobyte33 And just a reminder, a .desktop file doesn't need to be run on the actual desktop, it's just a file type :)

@gamingonlinux Oh god, thank you for letting me know! I made the link in the testing repo and forgot to test it after.

@gamingonlinux โฌ†๏ธ nice to see one of my favorites continue to have legs. I've been playing since before CS 1.0 and made maps for the OG version

@gamingonlinux i assume people got hyped, expecting an actual summer update (akin to jungle inferno or gun mettle) when it's just gonna be a new cosmetic drop

although unlike the seasonal events (christmas & halloween) these aren't gonna be themed, which is pretty cool!

fans have just been so content-starved in recent years, any nugget of new official content is getting them overly excited, which is why valve probably wanted to clarify what to expect from the update

@gamingonlinux
welp, any update is cool. I might be in the minority, but the only things I expect of Valve in terms of TF2 is keeping servers up and keeping the bots out.
with that announcement I got the impression that they might want to keep trying on more than this update if it goes well, so why get upset over some writer guy making the community too excited by mistake, we're gonna get new stuff

@gamingonlinux good for people with metered connections I guess.

@gamingonlinux Oh nice! I scp only once a game from my PC to the Deck: Skyrim, because it was a pain to mod it and didnโ€˜t want it to do it again just to play my savegame

Should have a nice Steam Deck news video later tonight, go follow me on YouTube :) youtube.com/@gamingonlinux

@gamingonlinux I initially read that as โ€œfinishingโ€ and was seriously wondering how getting a new bundle would help me with that.

@gamingonlinux Why use SMS at all though, if you still have the option of a hardware security key or 2FA authentication app, you're considerably better off with the latter two, rather than having your token tied to your phone number and delivered to you in plain text. SMS should only be used for 2FA if no better option exists.

WORM :artix:

@gamingonlinux "pay up for the privilege of being vulnerable to sim swapping!"

Sparr

@gamingonlinux to be fair, sms is the only one that has direct costs to them every time someone uses it.

Updated Fedora KDE, and now my main screen keeps entirely at random flashing to black. What the heck? Anyone know if it's a known issue?

@gamingonlinux Latest nvidia driver? Because that could be a regression that was fixed lately. I sadly cant find the driver release fixes list rn.

Irfan

@gamingonlinux I'm on Plasma 5.27 on Arch, also with an NVIDIA GPU and using X11. so far pre, and post-updating to 5.27 I have not gotten that issue. Maybe Wayland? Wayland is unfortunately still absolutely broken for me even after updating to 5.27.

Thomas

@gamingonlinux Apparently I'm using a similar setup as you: Fedora KDE, NVidia + Wayland.

I've been using this combination (minus Wayland) since FC6 without any troubles, but lately every update brings new issues.

Are you also experiencing the terrible glitches with the new Big Picture interface? It's usable, but very flickery and jumpy. Also for a while the regular Steam interface hasn't been able to fullscreen any store movies.

Weird, as I believe Steamdeck also runs on Linux/KDE.

@gamingonlinux I'm exited to see how it turns out. What I like about civ is that every game has unique mechanics. While I think V was better than VI, I admittedly put more hours into VI; it has such great graphics.

Dervishpi

@gamingonlinux I still play Civ VI - mostly because my computer was upgraded to be able to play it just over a year ago.

@gamingonlinux Run the video but donate any Ad proceeds to Ukraine Aid maybe? This one is much less clear cut imho than the wizard game.

Anton

@gamingonlinux It seems like at least one of their investors has ties to the Russian government (twitter.com/fj_undead/status/1). And they didn't condemn the war so far (most of their employees moved out of Russia). I would stay away from the game. But explicitly stating the problem at the beginning of the video and donating the proceeds to Ukraine could be a good solution as well.

@gamingonlinux You have no chance to survive make your time. Take off every zig for great justice!

Jostma

@gamingonlinux Muy bueno pero demasiado difรญcil, sobre todo para ese final consistente en unos conguitos bailando, muy por debajo de las expectativas tras la tremenda intro de la versiรณn de Mega Drive.
