@gamingonlinux We can't thank Valve enough for their contribution to gaming on Linux ๐Ÿ™

AlexTECPlayz

@gamingonlinux Yooo, could they also allow games to be played on Android, similar to what Epic announced a while back about having an alternative storefront on phones?

Bacteria

@gamingonlinux

Correct. Valve should introduce something that distinguishes Official support from Unofficial (might break in the future) support.

@gamingonlinux This is wishful thinking but imagine what would happen if Valve offered developers and publishers a discount from Steam's 30% take if they agreed to officially support Steak Deck and Proton.

Then replace the "Steam Deck Verified" status with "Steam Deck Supported".

ampersandrew

@gamingonlinux It's so stupid when games like this and Tony Hawk make an exception to online requirements specifically for Steam Deck rather than...not making them requirements in the first place.

Joakim Fors

@gamingonlinux I really like all the color management/HDR plumbing that got merged into 47. I have big hopes for 48.

@gamingonlinux already daily driving it on Fedora 41 beta and itโ€™s soooooo smooth! Thatโ€™s using NVIDIA proprietary drivers btw (RTX 2060). Also VR WORKS NOW!!!!

If you come to @gamingonlinux and attempt to make a comment arguing about SJW, pretending you're "not a bigot" while clearly acting like one, and trying to post a wall of text being against a simple CoC telling people basically "don't be a dick"....you will be instantly banned with the comment not approved.

All new users have comments go through approval for a while first. It's a system that has worked *very* well to keep our comments a little more focused and respectful.

@gamingonlinux kinda get it. They obviously could not handle the Dev bandwidth and it was always worse than using proton anyway basically since day one.

Mivey

@gamingonlinux game dev on Linux is sadly not a great experience. Much simpler to just develop against one code base and then test if things run well on Proton.

Jason Daigo

@gamingonlinux tried the proton version today and no matter what settings it has a disgusting blur effect around the character movement. Vega56 on Arch. I'm sad. Was better before.

Might be typical American corporate bullying with lawsuits. The larger company got the extra funds to bully the smaller one until it submits.

No idea how expensive the lawsuits are in Japan. Or if the winner gets to transfer it's legal cost onto the loser.*

*Which is fairly common outside of USA.

@gamingonlinux GTA VI is really far away but they're probably testing BattleEye and how is effective so they can use it or not in GTA VI. But no support for Linux is really dumb

@gamingonlinux Who wants to bet Microsoft did something "nice" for Rockstar to get them to not enable the anti-cheat on Linux?

@gamingonlinux I wonder how it looks like with FIVEM or any other game server on Linuxโ€ฆ

It's been pointed out that my GOG links for some of you don't work. This will be due to your plugins auto-closing some affiliate links. It's not something I can fix, you need to bug the plugin developers to stop doing that, it's not a good UX.

I've used GOG affiliate links for a long time, with no plan to stop. GamingOnLinux is not a charity, it needs funding, and this is one of the ways.

Happy Wednesday!

(And anyone being a nuisance about it will be blocked or muted)

@gamingonlinux GOG is great! I wish they offered a Linux friendly compatibility layer like Steam. :toot:

@gamingonlinux I hope this helps you reconsider your #policy ๐Ÿ™‚ have a nice day
