@gamingonlinux On the topic of whether it's a "big deal" or not, I'm not so concerned about the OOBE, I'm sure Ubuntu's regular users will be fine either way. But there's a clear, Microsoft-level conflict of interest when you have a company pushing their own proprietary solution while excluding competing technologies of the same kind. It starts to stink of walled-garden mentalities that are mostly antithetical to the FOSS community.

@gamingonlinux And I plan to drop Ubuntu by default and stick to Arch for computers and something not Red Hat or Ubuntu based for servers, maybe Debian or openSUSE...

@gamingonlinux Was expecting the SD gyro features to be nothing more than a gimmick at first, but after using it, it's invaluable for FPS games. Not sure how much benefit it'll bring in NMS, but in higher-paced shooters, it really helps to fine-tune your aim.

@gamingonlinux I'm going to show this gif to anyone who questions why I invert the y axis on my sticks

@gamingonlinux reminds me of the parable of the frog and the scorpion.

@gamingonlinux cheaters, or "cheaters"? By running Linux "anti cheat" often labels you as a Cheater. Using accessible technology, often gets labeled as "cheating". And how much of the "anti-cheat" is on stuff where it is a matter of, "I just want to have my type of experience of this game," as it's not "real" competition. Most of it, as far as I can tell.

@gamingonlinux I'm dubious. Your explanation, of it being something they could see in the game by cheating, was reasonable. But their post suggests they are tracking merely reading from the program's memory space at all. I'm worried this would catch profilers, harmless video overlays, or even a simple `grep /dev/mem` for unrelated purposes.

@gamingonlinux
Ouch ! Now that must have hurt somebody !

And it proves that without control, power is nothing.

Our Steam Deck is still the best handheld in the market, and the living proof that Linux IS made for gaming now.

Exactly how I feel watching every episode of The Last of Us.

…this is a Pedro fan account now. Don’t @ me.

Some devs make me laugh, came across a game called "Counter-Fight: Global Strike"

I bet you don't know what game it's trying to sound like 👀 😆

Atomic Heart on Steam Deck video

youtube.com/watch?v=Yb1igzYFKX

Their "Streamer Mode" does nothing and leaves copyrighted music in. So this video gets me no revenue to help the channel. Shame. #SteamDeck #AtomicHeart

Liam @ GamingOnLinux 🐧🎮

Turned Streamer Mode on for Atomic Heart and still got hit with YouTube Copyright, so I'll get absolute zero from my videos on it.

Was in the middle of doing another, which I now just won't bother with as the first took quite some time.

@gamingonlinux there has to be grave consequences for fake/repeatedly erroneous copyright hits on authorised content, like the money you would have received for the video, paid in full by the faker/"serial errorist", or something. That or the company that makes the game should be questioned on how is it possible that its streamer mode still generates copyright hits on online platforms and them having to solve the situation out of their own pocket in a timely and satisfactory fashion.

Love it when random YouTube comments come along to tell me I’m “wrong” because a game performs better for them.

@gamingonlinux You're wrong, I don't get those comments. /jk

RedCyberLizzie

@gamingonlinux its just like github comments "Works for me." Yeah well for me and over 200 other people its completely broken with some obscure bug. I'm glad it works for you but it doesnt for me. Your experience is not universal, stop being "that guy" in the comments and either shut up or help. Its frustrating when those people show up.

rus

@gamingonlinux it wouldn't be quite as bad if they offered receipts (screen caps or something...) It would be honestly helpful if they explained the mitigation steps.

Without that it's just... annoying. For everyone.
