@gamingonlinux Iโ€™ll be interested to see if they do more optimization for the Deck. Iโ€™ve heard it can be difficult to play right now because of dense small text

@gamingonlinux Was waiting for it, the "traditional" UI feels intimidating .

@gamingonlinux amazing! Hopefully the mac release isnโ€™t too far off either.

I clean most of my peripherals quite regularly. Most often with a very slightly wet and soapy sponge to remove oils. My iPhone gets a proper wash with water as it is waterproof, and my earbuds get dry cleaned with a toothbrush regularly. The toothbrush itself then goes to the dishwasher.

It doesn't take a lot of time, and I just feel much better having clean stuff.

Windows: forces adverts on you, even though you paid for it.

Linux: free, does not do that.

@gamingonlinux Iโ€™m glad windows 11 added more advertisements and other anti consumer โ€œfeaturesโ€ because thatโ€™s how I figured out about Linux

Homer ๐Ÿ’ป ๐ŸŽฎ ๐ŸŽฃ ๐Ÿ”๐Ÿˆ

@gamingonlinux Unless you pay for the enterprise version of Windows, it's pretty much shareware. There is some good software that fixes a bunch of the issues. But with every update the reintroduce or ad new crappy ads. It's ridiculous how many subsystems there are for ads and telemetry oo-software.com/en/shutup10

Why does everything need a launcher? Just look at how completely useless this is. I click play, it loads, I have to click play again. Why.

@gamingonlinux
Don't forget that multiple launchers means multiple drm's, wich means more bloatware in the background (โ ใคโ โ‰งโ โ–ฝโ โ‰ฆโ )โ ใค

@gamingonlinux @dotterian maybe userful case when you restart game to apply settings, but you want not quit game(because you use some specific software like cloud gaming platform that close you session when you quit game)

FoxbitPlayz

@gamingonlinux proprietary "anticheat", I can see myself making one in tandem with a game but for Linux, I would have the launcher optional and merge the separate cheater's servers with their windows counterparts.

Hey, couple of simple question if I may please:

First) just clicking through to this bundle and the first three games I clicked on said they were supported on windows or macos, but no mention of linux. Do we know if they run on linux?

Second) is a steam membership / subscription / etc necessary to get these, or are they (as a very old school guy) just a download?

Ty!

@gamingonlinux Yesterday I tried using my Index for the first time in way too long. Glad to one I was just a kiss early! ๐Ÿ˜„

@gamingonlinux 'tis only the beginning .. upgrading our compilers and we are doing a pass on runtime compatibility.

@gamingonlinux First time I've heard of Deckard, and now I'm interested in VR again. I have been wondering if there'll ever be a new Valve headset.

Hearing reports that Baldur's Gate 3 is totally unplayable in Act 3 on Steam Deck.

This is again why I keep saying people doing "Best Settings" guides are a load of rubbish, because it's always from people who haven't actually played it through.

Also shows Valve need to improve Deck Verified / Playable to truly take into account performance through longer games - which clearly many times they are not.

@gamingonlinux I had expected that the popularity of the Steam Deck would mean that game developers would test on it during development, making it a useful baseline for the amount of computing power a game requires. I guess we're unfortunately still far from that ideal.

@gamingonlinux
Act 3 is when you get to Baldurs Gate correct? I've made it to lower city and can confirm that my performance takes a huge dip in the more populated/complex areas. I imagine the deck gets hit much harder.

@gamingonlinux I wish protonDB would give you the option to filter steam deck and non-steam deck reports.

@gamingonlinux This looks pretty cool and something I've been wanting. It would be great if you could get a stylus for artists!

Kent Borg

@gamingonlinux Why all those big buttons on the left? Isn't there a trackpad there? Does it work so poorly that the buttons need to be so big?

Kent Borg

@gamingonlinux Those big thumb sized things down the left edge of the screen.
