Took my camera and went back to the spot where I've met the friendly ducks yesterday – 1. to try out my macro lens on them (results soon!), but more importantly 2. because there was a family of Egyptian geese with freshly-hatched twins! After spending an hour or so around them, they ended up being really comfortable with me, peacefully napping right next to me (parents too, but out of frame). #birding #birds #birdwatching #birdphotography #photography #wildlifephotography #naturephotography Went for a walk, met a peregrine falcon! (Haven't seen one of these before, apart from occasionally spending a few minutes on https://calfalcons.berkeley.edu/webcams/ last spring and summer, which was fun, but observing one with my own eyes is cool, too.) #birding #birds #birdwatching #birdphotography #birdsofmastodon #photography #wildlife #wildlifephotography That peregrine was flying (with some half-eaten prey in tow, I believe – was too far away to really tell) between different perches in an old quarry a couple minutes out of town (forgot to take a wider shot of it, so, here's an unseasonably-green view from Apple Maps). I think its mate was there, too, but I didn't get to see them. (But I did see an understandably-wary wood pigeon nearby.) #birding #birds #birdwatching #birdphotography #birdsofmastodon #photography #wildlife #wildlifephotography Recent shots of pigeons that I thought would work well in a black-and-white square format. #birding #birds #birdwatching #birdphotography #birdsofmastodon #wildlifephotography #photography |
