The #SteamDeck subreddit has been marred with controversy for the last year or two, but recently, the top moderator was completely removed and a new mod team has taken over.
Here is the story of how it all happened and what led up to the removal:

Per the last Steam Hardware survey, Linux usage has grown to 2%, which could indicate more people using a #SteamDeck in general: This week's #SteamDeck Verified/Playable games include some incredible titles like Europa, Vampire Hunters, and the upcoming The Thing: Remastered: Slitterhead is an intriguing and unique horror game with some great ideas in there, but has a bit of stiffness in story-telling. A copy was provided by Square Enix for review. An OLED Panel mod for the original LCD #SteamDeck is being made, and it sounds incredible:  @steamdeckhq Custom bios just kills this for me... If they ever fold as a company and can't provide a new bios the deck becomes a brick. I never want to risk that. A new Proton GE update was released with some updated components and minor game fixes for the #SteamDeck: https://steamdeckhq.com/proton-ge-9-17-released-with-updates/?utm_source=dlvr.it&utm_medium=mastodon Apex Legends got a new update that blocks it from being played on any Linux OS, which means we can no longer play on #SteamDeck: https://steamdeckhq.com/apex-legends-can-no-longer-be-played-on-steam-deck/  @steamdeckhq I play it casually, I guess I'll just move to other similar game that works and is not actively blocking Linux users. We got the chance to play Dragon Age: The Veilguard a bit early on #SteamDeck thanks to EA sending a key, and we are quite pleased with the results so far. Here are our first impressions: https://steamdeckhq.com/dragon-age-the-veilguard-steam-deck-impressions/ A new SteamOS Beta update was released that improves performance for Metaphor: ReFantazio on #SteamDeck by up to 20%, and while it isn't perfect, there are some noticeable improvements: Carry The Glass got some #SteamDeck support in their newest update, along with VSync and better camera movements: The Frightmare Halloween 2024 bundle from Fanatical has some amazing titles that are great for the #SteamDeck, like DOOM, STASIS: Bone Totem, Dead Island Definitive Collection, and more: Disney Epic Mickey: Rebrushed got an update with some #SteamDeck improvements, although it is fantastic on Deck already: Only 1 day left to grab almost every Resident Evil game for a cheap, bundled price on Fanatical!
