I started doing photography when I was 35 and I ran my first half marathon when I was 44. I’ve never been embarrassed about being an adult learner. I wasted enough of my younger days being embarrassed about things I should’ve been proud of.

A vividly colored male Allen’s hummingbird perches on a green spiny stem, showcasing feathers in shades of brown and iridescent hues on its neck. The background is softly blurred, emphasizing the bird's detail.

@Jgbird
From the long gone let-us-not-defame-a-bird site, I remember when you started running, a bit at a time, at your pace. It was clear that you were ok with starting slow and gradually improving, both pace and distance. I admired your patience. I always fail at continuing, myself.

Phainopepla breakfast berry buffet

A Phainopepla perched on colorful fruit-laden branches, surrounded by green leaves. The bird has a red eye and is holding a berry in its beak.

Another portrait of one of my favorite ravens. I’m always trying to convey the curiosity and empathy in their eyes. Sorry if I’ve posted this one before.

@Jgbird You will never ever need to apologize to me for any amount of raven pics. (Loved this one!)

I learnt to watch birds by watching birds—their patience, attentiveness, and awareness. Here’s a Green heron I found early one morning.
