I hate this stockpiling toilet paper thing that’s going on all across the world. I’m pretty sure it’s a meme, in that most people probably wouldn’t have thought about that nonsense if they haven’t heard that others were doing it

@Gargron How is the situation where you live? Here in Brazil the curve is starting to heighten.

Gotta be honest I thought the #flattenTheCurve hashtag was something Flat Earth related Like they'd realized the Earth was round... But they wanted to take matters into their own hands I've updated mastodon.social. There's now a new API for uploading media files, which will handle videos more reliably. Since this is brand new, only the web UI uses it for now, so you may not notice a difference from a different app. There's also new rate limits for posting and following, though you shouldn't notice it. It's just to limit the impact of spam.

If you could change some ffmpeg settings to make videos on Mastodon look a bit better, what would you change? Current settings: https://github.com/tootsuite/mastodon/blob/master/app/models/media_attachment.rb#L66-L74

Is there an online tool that lets you turn various ffmpeg knobs while showing a before/after comparison of the video with a before/after comparison of the file size as well? @Gargron i think you at least need to render before it shows what the knob fiddling does |
@Gargron that's rich coming from someone who makes money from pharmaceutical patent trolls
