A couple of weeks ago I finished a beast of a project.

The interactive installation (titled InStability) is an artistic endeavor to demonstrate how seismic stations in Iceland detect earthquakes.

Visitors are invited to touch the map, triggering "earthquakes", and observe how LEDs, representing seismic and GPS stations, light up as the seismic waves propagate across Reykjanes peninsula.

I'm Nat, a designer and multimedia storyteller living in Iceland. Co-run ukiyo-kor.is, do #dataviz and #scicomm, #illustration, #photography and a bit of this and a bit of that.

Current skill I'm practising: embroidering a scene from an early computer game while simultaneously playing tetris melody on ukulele.

Like and subscribe for talks and rants about design, works in progress (to get a glimpse of how design process looks like), pictures of Iceland and occasional pixel art.

A Russian lady was detained after she wrote “Net v***e” (Net voyne/No to war) with chalk on asphalt. She was accused of discrediting the army and faced a large fine. A box of chalk was taken as evidence of an offense.
She stated that her inscription meant “Net voble” (No to Caspian roach), since she “feels hostility to this type of fish.” The court noted that the police did not refute this statement, and dismissed the case. The judge also ordered to return the lady her box of chalk.
