  Something out of left field: Our 32-foot sailboat, Wrack, will be in the western Med' within a couple of weeks. I'm toying with the idea that artists, scientists and others might utilise her next year as a mobile, floating platform for creative/research projects or as a retreat. Any interest? I'd remain aboard as skipper to navigate and maintain the boat, as well as mentor occasionally. There would be accommodation for 2-3 guests.

 @ccohanlon Wouldn't I love it? But I don't think it would be possible for me. I hope some people will have the occasion to enjoy it. Woke up with guitar riff in my head, unable to remember what it's from, an echo from the distant past, it tastes like scrapped knees at the skatepark, playing Perfect Dark 64 in Sam's attic and smoking Drum. "Stickin' In My Eye" by NOFX tfw still don't have any PDF readers which can handle the 12,000 page ARM reference manual

 @drewdevault Is it the same doc as in this report? https://gitlab.freedesktop.org/poppler/poppler/-/issues/1485 (reported by @nekohayo ) If yes then the perf is half fixed as the second half of the patch has been in review for a couple of month. This should help in Okular, Evince and Paper. And anything using poppler. Otherwise it would be interesting to get our hands on it. @drewdevault Let's just hope its more readable than the x86 one. I honestly don't know what creature the manual is designed to be read by but they certainly aren't human.  Got the pleasure of designing the j-card for the latest release of @lyndsiealguire alongside some pixel art used for an interactive story accompanying the album (and printed on the tape itself). The cover is a painting by Naomi Nowak ~  The kind people of Sointula are quick to tell us how much of a sleepy town they live in. Meanwhile, we're here dizzied by the bustling activity of cars, scooters, dogs barking after spending months in the woods not hearing other voices than ours own. TIL, if you accidentally break VLC by trying to change one of the shortcuts(?!) VLC comes with a curses version that runs in the terminal with `nvlc`

   The calm surface of the water was intermittently disturbed by their oscillating motion, and the quietness of the anchorage disturbed by the occasional burst of hot air. Accompanying a handful of anchored sailing vessels were hot air balloonists that came from far-flung places unreachable by waterways. The things you think about when you're becalmed waiting for wind. And of course, they didn't have space or weight to spare for such things as velocipedes and dinghies, they had on board stilts that they use to get across shallow rivers and reach shore without getting wet!!

Femi just released an hour long #Orca tutorial that builds from the foundations and go into some really obscure places with the language. @neauoire even though your built the first version do you find yourself learning things from what others discover? We're thinking of sailing to Sointula later today. In 1901, a group of Finnish settlers planned to set up a utopian socialist society known as the Kalevan Kansa, based on cooperative principles there. @neauoire very cool! very curious what it's like there today—wonder what the vibes are like since the wiki mentions folks buying up summer homes there. Spent all afternoon in the tiny Sointula museum learning about the village that originated from a utopian Finnish commune. They never had a church, and one of their maxim was that women and men would be equal, the general store was the first consumer cooperative in BC. That was all back in 1901. The irony is not lost on me that the Internet Archive went out of its way to acquire the physical versions of millions of books and loan them out carefully and in a limited way, and is facing a near-extinction-level event over it, while for-profit and VC-backed companies are just stealing people’s content and making up excuses to validate the bad behavior.

 @ernie the stranglehold that publishers have on our entire culture is obscene. We have to find ways to support authors that don't further empower these ghouls. Meanwhile, z library doesn't bother paying publishers anything, and has books and scientific articles freely available to all, and has yet to be taken down. A #uxntal manual page, that contains the full opcode reference with all that's needed to program with it.
