Listening to music through CMUS in a Uxn instance, the rendering of curses could be improved somewhat :eccehomo:

@neauoire lol i love this cheap, no-nonsense, non-destructive solution to ad-blocking

@neauoire It's always a good idea to challenge people on the street where you don't have any power on the outcome.

We get to check our mail about four times a year, and today was such a day. It's mostly little correspondence that we get, we don't order stuff online because we can't get to it, but when we get mail I sometimes find one of SL's zines in there and I'm always eager to check because of these.

I relate to SL's complicated relationship with computers and how they break.

@neauoire Hah! Wow they took their time! Glad to hear they arrived, I hope they're still in good shape.

The Sidosi webmaster died(rip Dan Parson) this summer and 3 months later the site finally goes dark and the community is still scrambling to collect all the pieces from the wayback machine. Most of the javascript tools and APIs are broken now, and nobody has a copy of the site.

Don't be that community, backup your shit, have a contingency plan.

@neauoire it's macabre but definitely good to have a bus factor of more than one wherever possible. @eigenbom was talking about how that might apply to godot actually

Saw someone with a tattoo of FreeBSD's mascot beastie at the gym, I asked them about it, if they were a bsd dev and whatnot, they replied "What's a Free BSD?"

@neauoire ah yeah, the good ol' found my tattoo in Google Images

vacuumbeef

@neauoire I imagined it and it was wildly embarrassing

News Anchor: "NASA has shared some new images of the oldest black hole."
Blasé Reporter: "My mind is blown Caroline, my mind is blown, science am I right. Now the traffic on highway 16-"

mcc

@neauoire At least give us a joke about there being a black hole on highway 16, Blase Reporter

@neauoire i recommend you give a listen to the work of Marihiko Hara. He’s a composer and pianist friend of mine who used to with with Sakamoto Ryuichi

bouncepaw 🍄

@neauoire yeah it rocks! And the story itself, it's still my favorite

lky

@neauoire don't forget the sore feet song! I'm astonished that people still remember mushishi

Woodworking kind of a day. Built a little frame for the hatch above Rek's workstation with a screen to keep the bugs out. Still needs to be varnished

@neauoire ya, we've met. It unceremoniously came down to bonk me on the head.

rostiger

@neauoire There's beauty in small things well done. Is it a specific wood that you chose?

Devine Lu Linvega

TADAH!
Installed the screen over the top hatch.

@neauoire this diagram is so endearing. It really helps when less-standard numbering schemes are humanized like this.

People asking me to debug node programs I wrote 10 years ago.

me: bash "npm" command not found

the harbinger of eternal sept

@neauoire my favorite is the flavor combo where node command is installed and npm command is not

Alexander Cobleigh

@neauoire people: please help this old code isn't running?!
devine: npm stands for "no pthanks man"

@neauoire don't ask me to debug a program I wrote 10 minutes ago

@aw check this out
github.com/fuzzballcat/milliFo

milliFORTH weighs in at just 422 bytes. This beats out Tunney's sectorLISP (436 bytes) by 14 bytes, making FORTH now the smallest language once again.

AlgoCompSynth by znmeb

@neauoire @aw 422 bytes? The *UART* drivers in the Raspberry Pi Pico SDK are bigger than that!

I did not want to write my own UART driver but now I'm challenged. 😡

Designed a 15-trits ternary stack machine computer, my dream dssp host if you will. It can do most basic forth primitives, and all sorts of other stuff.

PG&E Delenda Est

@neauoire @theruran christopher nolan will one day make a three hour epic about how you put this into the world

@gustav This is what 1-bit blending is supposed to look like.
