Happy new year from the #LibreOffice community! Coming up next month is LibreOffice 25.2, our next major update. Stay tuned... Update time! #LibreOffice 24.8.4 is now available, as the fourth maintenance release in our latest stable branch. All users are recommended to upgrade: https://blog.documentfoundation.org/blog/2024/12/19/libreoffice-24-8-4/ #foss #opensource #freesoftware @libreoffice Highly satisfied with your work. Thank you all, for this brilliant, free office software. So awesome 👏 New update released today! #LibreOffice 24.8.3 is now available, with bugfixes and compatibility improvements. All users are recommended to upgrade: https://blog.documentfoundation.org/blog/2024/11/14/libreoffice-24-8-3/ #foss #OpenSource #freesoftware #news #LibreOffice 24.2.7 is now available – the final planned update to the 24.2 branch, which reaches end-of-life in November. After that, all users are recommended to upgrade to the new stable branch, LibreOffice 24.8: https://blog.documentfoundation.org/blog/2024/10/31/libreoffice-24-2-7-is-now-available-the-last-release-in-the-24-2-branch/ #foss #opensource #freesoftware Free Software (like #LibreOffice) is about far more than just zero-cost. It’s about the freedom to use, share and modify the software that we all rely on. Make sure that the European Commission doesn't cut funding for Free Software: https://blog.documentfoundation.org/blog/2024/09/13/bring-back-free-software-funding-give-your-feedback-to-the-european-commission/ @fsfe #foss #opensource It's not immediately obvious the "Find out more here" is a link to FSFE. It looks like a header to social networks buttons. It is possible to maybe make some words in the article (e.g. "write") link to the same article? New major release! #LibreOffice 24.8 is the private, free office suite which includes: ✅ Handy "Quick find" deck in the Sidebar ...plus many other new features, fixes and compatibility improvements. @libreoffice I'm happy to report all the torrents appear to be working this time (well, I didn't check Apple Intel, Linux RPM or non-64-bit Windows). @libreoffice happy to see ai assistants and a locked cloud service were not part of your new features 😀 Update time: #LibreOffice 24.2.4 is now available. This is the fourth minor update to the 24.2 branch, which we originally released in February this year (with a new "year.month" version scheme): https://blog.documentfoundation.org/blog/2024/06/06/libreoffice-24-2-4/ #foss #OpenSource #news Question! Why should local governments use taxpayers’ money to buy proprietary, closed software from a single vendor? And what happens to citizens' data? A solution is to move to free and open source software like #Linux and #LibreOffice – which is exactly what Schleswig-Holstein is doing: https://blog.documentfoundation.org/blog/2024/04/04/german-state-moving-30000-pcs-to-libreoffice/ #foss #OpenSource #privacy

@libreoffice To #Linux or to #GNU? Linux is a kernel, not an operating system. There are not many other OSes with a Linux kernel. GNU, Android and Musl distributions are the most common if not the only ones. The rest are derivations of them. For example µClibc is a GNU implementation. LibreOffice 24.2 is our new major update, with new features, compatibility improvements, and performance boosts. @libreoffice I'm going to #boost this a bit, to at least broaden its reach. Likes/favorites don't play into an algorithm here (thank goodness) and don't help visibility, and not all servers are federated (and some federated feeds are firehoses anyway). @bookstodon, if you're tired of having to throw out still perfectly working #tech that suffers #PlannedObsolescence only because the closed-system software bricks them, check out this #petition. Same to artists everywhere, @Curator. Il diritto universale di installare qualsiasi software su qualsiasi dispositivo, firma qui: https://fsfe.org/activities/upcyclingandroid/openletter.html

My question is: when you release this new version I have to get a new portable #LibreOffice or just click on update?
